Adult Congenital Heart Disease Program

Dartmouth-Hitchcock’s Adult Congenital Heart Disease (ACHD) Program is the only program in New Hampshire designed to address the special health considerations of adult patients diagnosed with heart defects.

Our goal is to provide patients with seamless continuity of care for every stage of life, helping to advance our patients’ health and preserve their lives.

The ACHD Program bridges pediatric and adult cardiac care and features:

  • Practitioners trained and experienced in both patient populations
  • A dedicated congenital cardiology ultrasound laboratory, registered congenital sonographers, and cardiologists specially trained in non-invasive cardiac imagery
  • Comprehensive wrap around services including prenatal testing and genetic counseling, high-risk obstetrical care, and fetal echocardiography

Patients appropriate for the ACHD Program include:

  • Adult patients who have been diagnosed and/or treated for a congenital heart defect
  • Older children (ages 16-18) diagnosed with congenital heart disease who are ready to transition to adult care
