Children's Hospital at Dartmouth (CHaD) has announced that 2010 Olympic Gold Medalist and World Champion Freestyle Skier, Hannah Kearney, will attend the Fifth Annual CHaD Hero Half Marathon & Relay on August 29, 2010 at the Dartmouth College Green in Hanover, NH. Hannah will help kick off the festivities at 8:30 a.m. by running Cam's Course, a 1 mile family fun run around the Dartmouth College campus. At 10:00 a.m., she will shoot the ceremonial start gun that will signal participants to begin the half marathon, Rip-cord 5K run, and 3 mile walk.
"CHaD's services are so important to kids and families across New England," explained Hannah Kearney. "I'm thrilled to be part of an event that celebrates children's health while raising money for a great organization."
The CHaD Hero Half Marathon & Relay will honor the "hero" in CHaD patients, families and medical staff. In addition, the event will try to recapture a Guinness World Record for the most number of people dressed as superheroes, in one place at one time. All participants and spectators are encouraged to dress in costumes.
All proceeds will benefit CHaD. Last year's event attracted over 1,300 runners and raised over $225K. Since its inception in 2006, CHaD Hero Half Marathon & Relay total donations have surpassed $700K. For more information, visit chadhalf.org.
