For over 10 years, Margarita "Rita" Ruiz Severinghaus, MA, RN, AHN-BC, Continuing Care Manager, for the Office of Care Management, has been traveling to the Dominican Republic to make a difference in the lives of people in her native country. She is part community ambassador, part networker and resource strategist, part educator, but all nurse and humanitarian as she has led 12 trips to her homeland to facilitate much-needed health care and education.

Since 2006, Rita has brought 10 Dartmouth-Hitchcock nurses in addition to other health care professionals with her on these humanitarian missions, along with countless donated medical supplies to bring comfort and solace to the poorest regions of the country.
