Lupus (Systemic Lupus Erythematosus) is a chronic, inflammatory autoimmune disorder. It may affect the skin, joints, kidneys, and other organs.
The Section of Rheumatology treats lupus and related disorders, including:
- Nephrotic Syndrome: a group of symptoms including protein in the urine, low blood protein levels, high cholesterol levels, and swelling (edema)
- Lupus Nephritis: a kidney disorder that is a complication of systemic lupus erythematosus and causes progressive loss of kidney function
