Chief Health Information Officer
Dr. Peter Solberg assumed the Chief Health Information Officer position in September 2015, after serving as the D-H Medical Director of Information Systems for the past 3 years. He partners closely with Martin Purcell, Vice President of IS, to oversee the spectrum of D-H information technology, with a particular focus on the clinical tools. He was closely involved with maintenance of the D-H homegrown EMR "CIS," before participating in the Epic selection and implementation process culminating in April 2011. He is one of a small group of physicians from across the country board-certified in the new Medical Informatics sub-specialty.
A graduate of Stanford University and (after an interlude teaching English in China) the UC San Francisco School of Medicine, Dr. Solberg trained in internal medicine at UCSF's San Francisco General Hospital. With a clinical interest in hospital medicine and HIV care, he joined the UCSF faculty, subsequently moving to Uganda in 2001 with the US Centers for Disease Control to spend 3 years developing and studying low-resource setting HIV treatment protocols. He joined D-H in 2005 and has maintained his hospital medicine and HIV practices as his IT role has evolved.
