Cherie A. Holmes, MD, MSc

Cherie A. Holmes, MD, MSc, is the Medical Director of Acute Care Services at Cheshire Medical Center/Dartmouth-Hitchcock.

Dr. Holmes is a 1979 graduate of Dartmouth College and a 1983 graduate of Georgetown University School of Medicine. She completed two years of internship and surgical residency at Mary Hitchcock Memorial Hospital and three years of orthopedic residency at the Harvard Combined Orthopedic Residency Program in Boston, Massachusetts. After completing a fellowship in Orthopedic Traumatology at Maryland Institute of Emergency Medical Systems (Shock Trauma) and a Sports Medicine fellowship at Rush Presbyterian – St. Luke's Medical Center in Chicago, she spent three and a half years as a Clinical Assistant Professor of Orthopedics at National Naval Medical Center/USUHS, including 7 months serving in the Persian Gulf during Operation Desert Storm/Desert Shield.

Cherie joined CMC/D-H in 1997 as a staff orthopedist, and served ten years as the Chair of the Department of Surgery and Chair of the Department of Orthopedics at CMC/D-H. Prior to being Medical Director for Acute Care Services, she devoted three years to the position of Associate Medical Director for Operations.

Cherie holds a Master's of Science in Healthcare Management from Harvard School of Public Health (2012). She is a practicing orthopedist, is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons and a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives. She is a past member of the NH Trauma Medical Review Committee. She serves on the Board of Advisors of the Dartmouth Gay and Lesbian Alumni Association.

Cherie lives in the Keene-area with her spouse of 32 years and her yellow Labrador retriever.
