When it is time to go home, your doctor will write an order for you to be discharged. Before you go, the team will review your plan of care to make sure that you and your family know about the care you will need at home.
After you go home, you may receive a telephone call or a survey in the mail, asking you about the care you received while in the hospital. Information from these surveys helps us to continually improve care.
Please stay in contact with your friend or family member while they’re in the hospital. Encourage them to let you know when their care team expects them to be ready to leave the hospital and which entrance they will use.
East entrance discharge
The East Entrance is the discharge location for most patients, Monday through Friday, from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm.
Please plan to arrive at our East Entrance at the designated discharge time. Parking at the East Entrance is limited to Emergency Department and Cancer Center patients only.
- If you arrive before the designated discharge time, you may park your vehicle and wait at our Main Entrance or the Parking Garage. Please proceed to the East Entrance at the designated discharge time.
When you arrive at the East Entrance, a Parking Officer will ask for the following information:
- Patient room number
- Patient name
Please wait in your vehicle while our staff brings your friend or family member out to you.
Main entrance discharge
The Main Entrance may be used for discharges that happen between 6:00 pm and 8:00 am, Monday through Friday, and all day on Saturdays and Sundays.
