The Blood Donor Program is committed to help create happy, healthy, and sustainable communities.
The Blood Donor Program asks donors to donate locally. When you donate at the Blood Donor Program, your donation is used to help treat and save the lives of local residents. This means that every time you donate blood, platelets or plasma with the Blood Donor Program, you are helping your family members, loved ones, friends, co-workers, and neighbors… the members of your community. This is part of our commitment to help create happy, healthy, and sustainable communities.
Not only does your blood donation stay local, it also helps other local non-profits and businesses. How? Easy. Multiple times throughout the year, the Blood Donor Program partners with a local non-profit and a local business to help them get what they need. Here are some of the businesses and organizations that we have partnered with:
January 2019: CHaD and the Norwich Bookstore
We purchased a book from the Norwich Bookstore for every blood donation throughout the month of January in 2019. We then donated 127 books to Children’s Hospital at Dartmouth.
April 2019: Special Needs Support Center, Montshire Museum, and VINS
We did a drive with the Special Needs Support Center in Lebanon, NH and had 72 participants. For each participant, we purchased tickets from VINS, the Montshire Museum, and the Arrowhead tubing park. These tickets were then donated to the children in the Aspire program at the Special Needs Support Center.
July 2019: Upper Valley Humane Society and West Lebanon Feed & Supply
For every donation during the month of July 2019, we purchased pet food from West Lebanon Feed & Supply and then donated the pet food to the Upper Valley Humane Society. We donated 145 bags of pet food.
October 2019: The Upper Valley Haven and the Vermont Food Bank.
For every blood, platelet, and plasma donation during October, a turkey was purchased by the Blood Donor Program from the Vermont Food Bank and donated to The Upper Valley Haven. There were 207 turkeys to help feed residents of Vermont and New Hampshire. On top of that, the Blood Donor Program collected over 800 lbs. of shelf-stable food to pair with turkey dinners for families in need.
January 2020: The Family Place and Norwich Bookstore
We purchased a book from the Norwich Bookstore for every blood donation throughout the month of January in 2020. We then donated 182 books to The Family Place in Norwich, VT.
Stay tuned for our partnership with Trail Break Taps & Tacos and learn how we will help feed community members in need!
