Evaluating The Benefit Of Concurrent Tricuspid Valve Repair During Mitral Surgery
This study is for people age 18 years and older who are scheduled for mitral valve surgery and who have mild or moderate tricuspid regurgitation (TR). TR is a condition where the heart valve does not close fully when it supposed to and blood can leak back into the right atrium. The purpose of this research project is to determine whether repairing a tricuspid valve in patients with mild to moderate TR, at the time of planned mitral valve surgery, would improve the heart health of those who undergo the procedure compared to those who do not.
