Manchester Hitchcock Way Expansion Project
Dartmouth-Hitchcock Manchester Expansion Update
Richard Pizzi, CEO of Lavallee Brensinger Architects; Tom Goins, Vice President of Facilities, Dartmouth-Hitchcock; and former Senior Medical Director Steve Paris, MD, Dartmouth-Hitchcock, share an update on the D-H Manchester expansion. Click here to view the article.
Construction will continue through December 2020.
Work hours during this time are governed by noise levels on weekdays and weekends. Generally speaking, this means that work will not occur between 9:00 pm and 7:00 am, but exceptions may arise during this time. Due to the proximity of neighborhoods in the area, construction equipment will not be started prior to 7:00 am to ensure noise levels are not disruptive.
In 1998, to meet increasing demands, Dartmouth-Hitchcock Manchester was re-located to the current 120,000 square-foot building, which is now known as Hitchcock Way. Specialty care offerings were expanded, strengthening ties with the academic medical center.
Our objective is the same today as it was in then. We are here to serve the community by providing accessible, high-quality and compassionate care for the people of Southern New Hampshire. Just as the community of Manchester has shifted and expanded over the years, so has Dartmouth-Hitchcock Manchester. Now it is time for our new tomorrow. We invite you to join us on the journey while we continue to provide and grow exceptional health care for the people of Manchester and beyond.
Tomorrow is the next today. We will be expanding at the Hitchcock Way location by adding an ambulatory surgery center, with updated medical office space and a medical infusion suite and a fixed MRI. Here are some details about the expansion project.
About the project
A 91,000 square-foot expansion including a state-of-the-art Ambulatory Surgery Center with six modern operating rooms to manage extended stays of up to 23 hours.
Contemporary renovated medical offices—approximately 9,000 square-feet—in the current building will allow for expansion of existing specialty services, primary care and the introduction of new services.
Newly designed, medical infusion suite and a fixed MRI are among the plans for the enhancement plans for Dartmouth-Hitchcock Health’s latest space.
By improving convenient access to high-quality, ambulatory services, we will be able to provide the most effective and efficient health care for our patients with a goal toward patient recovery at home instead of at the hospital. With a focus on convenient, comprehensive services all in one location, we are adding and expanding our specialties, including:
- Ear, nose and throat
- General surgery
- Medical infusion, including dedicated pediatric infusion space
- Orthopaedics and sports medicine
- Primary, including walk-in services
- Spine services
The Ambulatory Surgery Center will include state-of-the-art operating rooms, including rooms dedicated for pediatric patients. The new space will also include expanded laboratory and imaging services as well as a new café with outdoor seating.
Pending all regulatory approvals and licensing, we will break ground in May of 2019 and open the new facilities in early Winter 2021.
