Our Philosophy of Care
The opening of the Jack Byrne Center for Palliative & Hospice Care represents the realization of a vision thirty years in the making. For too long, our region has been without a facility to care for those with life-limiting illness who may not be able to receive the level of care they need in other care settings.
Fulfilling a vision for care in the Upper Valley
In partnership with hospice and nursing organizations throughout the region, the Jack Byrne Center closes a gap in our health system, making personalized care, community programming and clinical research opportunities available within a state-of-the-art, homelike environment.
A place for learning and research
While the Center will incorporate state-of-the-art practices in palliative and hospice care, our team will advance their practice through research and education. Research at the Jack Byrne Center is an integral part of ongoing initiatives at Dartmouth-Hitchcock. The Center also offers training programs for hospice and palliative care professionals.

Our patient promise
We promise to work together to give patients with serious illness the best care in the right place at the right time, to collaborate with community partners to transform the care of patients and families in our region and set the standard for the nation.
By providing comprehensive palliative and hospice care, our goal is to help every patient live his or her life well, with meaning and purpose, doing what is most important as life draws to a close.
