High-Risk Pregnancies
Prenatal Diagnosis Program
Our Prenatal Diagnosis Program is a specialized team that offers genetic counseling and testing for women who are at increased risk for having babies with birth defects. You can seek counseling at any point before, during, or after your pregnancy. About 2,000 patients use our prenatal diagnosis and genetic counseling services every year.
Care plans for women with complicated pregnancies
We work with a woman's prenatal care team to make sure she remains healthy during her pregnancy. In some cases, a woman will have numerous visits with the High-Risk Pregnancy team. In other cases, the woman will return to the care of her obstetrician, midwife, or Family Medicine team.
Resources for pregnant women with diabetes
Our team includes a Certified Diabetes Educator who can help women with diabetes eat well and regulate their insulin during pregnancy.
Care during labor and delivery
Members of our team help manage the labor of women who need special care during childbirth.
Support for other providers
Our team serves as a resource to obstetricians, midwives, and Family Medicine providers at DHMC and around the region. A member of the High-Risk Pregnancy team is on call 24 hours a day.
