The Crutch Program
If you have a leg or foot injury or need to have surgery, you will likely need crutches to support you while you recover. We understand that the burden of this expense, in addition to the care for your injury, can be overwhelming. With these concerns in mind, the Department of Orthopaedics at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center has created The Crutch Program.
Because patients use crutches for a short period of time and then put them in storage, we have accumulated various pairs of gently used crutches. We are happy to make these crutches available to patients who cannot otherwise afford crutches due to lack of insurance or a high co-pay amount. We also welcome anyone to donate their crutches to our program.
How do I get crutches?
For those who would like to use crutches from this program, simply ask one of the members of your care team about borrowing a set of crutches during your recovery.
