Founded in 1893, Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center is a member of Dartmouth Health, a nonprofit academic health system that serves a patient population of 1.2 million in New England. Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, New Hampshire, is New Hampshire's only Level 1 Trauma center, Level II Pediatric Trauma Center and its only air ambulance service. Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center includes the Norris Cotton Cancer Care Pavilion Lebanon, one of only 51 NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Centers in the nation and the Children's Hospital at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center.

In partnership with Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth and the White River Junction VA Medical Center in White River Junction, Vermont, Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center trains nearly 400 residents and fellows annually, and performs world-class research.
