These are protocols and techniques we use and that can be made available to collaborators and users.

Ira DeCamp Brain Imaging Lab

The Ira DeCamp Brain Imaging Laboratory is a lab workspace for shared use by group members and collaborators. The DeCamp Brain Imaging Lab houses multiple workstations for faculty, staff, trainees and collaborators to use and is equipped with a large video display for meetings and training sessions. Brain image data are acquired at the DHMC Advanced Imaging Center. Imaging modalities include:

  • Functional MRI (fMRI)– of cognition, emotion, motion, reward, pain, and other brain systems
  • Diffusion tensor imaging (DTI)
  • Voxel-based morphometry (VBM)
  • Segmentation and volumetry of brain regions/structures and of brain lesions
  • Dense-array electroencephalography (EEG)
  • Multimodal brain imaging approaches
  • Transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS)
  • Transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS)
  • Pain imaging
  • Imaging genetics

Assessments and interventions in clinical neuroscience studies

  • Neuropsychological assessment
  • Neuropsychiatric evaluation
  • Self-reported outcomes for studies of cognition, emotion, pain, fatigue
  • Test design and construction
  • Cognitive rehabilitation

Clinical neuroscience study design and management

  • Study design issues specific to clinical neuroscience and imaging studies
  • Database management and statistical analyses specific to clinical neuroscience studies
  • Advising on IRB and regulatory aspects specific to clinical neuroscience studies
  • Psychological test design and construction
  • fMRI task design, construction, and implementation
  • Physiological monitoring for clinical neuroscience studies

Together with our collaborators, we are exploring the application of other brain imaging techniques in clinical neuroscience research, such as:

  • Intrinsic magnetic resonance elastography (iMRE)
  • Combined near-infrared spectroscopy – electroencephalography (NIRS-EEG)
