Hand Therapy

Our outpatient hand therapy team provides care to adult and pediatric patients for the treatment of overuse (tendonitis, carpal tunnel, tennis elbow), chronic conditions (arthritis), and traumatic injuries (fractures, dislocations, lacerations of nerves or tendons). Early evaluation of your finger, hand, wrist, and elbow symptoms can prevent further injury and chronic problems. Through standardized and non-standardized assessments, we work with you to develop an individualized treatment plan to reach your functional goals.

Common treatments include:

  • Custom orthosis fabrication (splinting)
  • Guided participation in exercise and functional activities to facilitate return to daily activities
  • Edema reduction
  • Ergonomic assessment/recommendations
  • Kinesiotape application
  • Manual tissue mobilization
  • Modalities including:
    • Cold packs
    • Contrast baths
    • Electrical stimulation
    • Fluidotherapy
    • Hot packs
    • Iontophoresis
    • Paraffin bath
    • Ultrasound
  • Patient education on home program for symptom management (stretching, strengthening, joint protection techniques)
  • Scar management
  • Wound care with debridement (suture removal)
