Functional capacity evaluation

A functional capacity evaluation (FCE) is an assessment of your current work abilities that is more lengthy and thorough. It is performed by an occupational therapist or a physical therapist, and is used to answer questions related to employment planning or returning to a specific job. You may need an FCE due to your physical or cognitive abilities. The FCE is tailored to you and consists of an interview, physical screening, ability testing, and work simulation if appropriate. Safety, reliability, and validity are key components of this assessment.
