Treatments and Services
The Department of Rehabilitation Services includes occupational therapy, physical therapy and speech-language pathology. We provide services when you are in the hospital and in visits to our clinics. Our clinic services include:
Occupational therapy can help you get back to tasks involved in your daily life - activities like work tasks, sports, hobbies, cooking, school work, household chores, bathing, and dressing. Occupational therapists complete treatment through activities and task simulation to improve daily function from an injury or illness. Treatment focuses on physical abilities, cognitive skills, motivation, pain and fear management. Occupational therapy also specializes in adaptive equipment to increase independence in daily life.
Physical therapy helps restore function so that you can return to the activities you love. We can help you prevent or recover from a sports injury. Physical therapy can relieve pain and improve movement and function after an injury or surgery.
Speech and language pathology
Speech and language pathology helps you when you have disorders or illnesses that affect your speech, your ability to understand or produce language, your voice and your swallowing. We also evaluate difficulties with mental processing that may be related to stroke or traumatic brain injury.
