Celebrating our volunteers during National Volunteer Week - April 16-22

We are privileged to work with hundreds of community members who chose to volunteer their time with us. Volunteers are the heart of any organization, a reminder of the strength of a human connection and personal touch. We honor the important role that our dedicated community volunteers play in making our hospitals, clinics, and visiting nurse and hospice agency–the very best places in our region to receive healthcare.

Across the Dartmouth Health system, volunteers are making critically important contributions to many activities that positively affect patient experience, including:

  • Child Life and Molly’s Place
  • DH Arts (musician volunteers)
  • Emergency Department (returning soon!)
  • Jack Byrne Center family kitchen bakers
  • gift shops
  • patient escorts
  • patient family advisors
  • Patient Support Corps
  • play pals
  • therapy dog teams
  • veteran-to-veteran support
  • Vigil Volunteers
  • and many more

In January, over $132,000 was awarded back to Dartmouth Health through the Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center (DHMC) Volunteers Annual Grants process. These grants included over $52,000 to support nursing education and $30,000 to fund food vouchers and transportation and prescription assistance programs. This funding was made available through proceeds from the Gift Shop at DHMC.

In October, we look forward to celebrating the 90th anniversary of volunteers serving at our Lebanon campus.

Join us in celebrating our Dartmouth Health volunteers and their gift of service during National Volunteer Week. We are truly fortunate and grateful to those who choose to give their time to support our patients, families, visitors, staff and each other.
