Multiple Sclerosis Center

The Multiple Sclerosis Center is a Center for Comprehensive Care

Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a complex disease involving the immune response and the central nervous system.

At the MS Center, your care plan is not handed out to you without your participation. Our patients are actively involved in all aspects of treatment at all times and are able to benefit from the cutting-edge research and education that is available to everyone associated with our MS care.

Refer to the Multiple Sclerosis (MS) page on our Healthwise® Health Encyclopedia website to learn more about this condition.

Our team approach

Every single MS patient is unique and needs an individualized care plan. The MS Center recognizes this and has designed a multidisciplinary team approach to MS care that addresses these needs.

Patients have access to diagnostic consultation from recognized neurology and neuroimmunology experts, including interpretation of magnetic resonance imaging results by neuroradiologists.

We also make available expert whole-person MS care from our nurse practitioners and nursing staff, including:

  • Symptom management
  • Immunotherapy management
  • Case management
  • Advocacy
  • Health education
  • MS-specific subspecialty services, such as MS neuropsychiatry

The MS Center clinic also refers to a select group of MS specialists at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center, including neuropsychologists, physical therapists, occupational therapists, neuro-ophthalmologists, urologists, and social workers.

Additionally, patients have access to cutting-edge research in MS that is being conducted onsite.

The most important part of our MS care approach is you. At the MS Center, you participate in your care plan. You will be actively involved in all aspects of your treatment, including the formulation of your treatment plan. Ultimately, our goal is to get to know you as a whole person and to design a customized care plan that most effectively will control your MS and optimize your quality of life.

Prescription refills

At your appointment

When you come to the MS Center for an office visit, you will be given a list of your medications to review and update prior to when you see your MS practitioner. During your office visit, your clinician will review your medication list, make any updates that are needed, and ask you if you need any prescription refills. Please inform your practitioner if you need prescription refills at the time of your visit.

By phone or via myDH

You can also request prescription refills by phone or via myDH. To request a refill by phone, contact us. You can also request prescription refills using the prescription refill page on your myDH account. If you do not have a myDH account, visit the website and learn how to enroll.

Please allow three to five business days for prescription refills. Also, please note that the MS Center will only refill medications that have been prescribed by MS Center practitioners.
