Summary

We are seeking patients with MS to participate in any of the following projects designed to learn about genes related to disease progression in MS, pain in MS, and cognition in MS. This is a NON-medication study and requires only one to two separate visits, depending on how many projects you choose to participate in. We are currently recruiting adults aged 18 ? 60 years, who have been diagnosed with MS or related disorder (e.g., Clinically Isolated Syndrome), as well as Healthy Adult Controls for one or more of the following projects: ? DOD ? Genetics/Imaging (Approximately a 4-hour study visit) o 45 ? 60 minute MRI of the head without contrast o 60 minute neurological exam o Brief cognitive testing o Blood draw o Questionnaires ? NMSS ? Pain (Approximately a 3-hour study visit) o 60 ? 70 minute MRI of the head and spine without contrast o 60 minute neurological exam o Self-report and Informant Questionnaires o Pain diary (5-10 minutes an evening) for 7 days post-study visit ? NMSS ? Pain 2 o 60 ? 70 minute MRI of the head and spine without contrast, including a functional MRI scan in which we apply pressure to your thumb at your individual mild pain level o Self-report and Informant Questionnaires o Pain diary (5-10 minutes an evening) for 7 days post-study visit ? DOD ? Brain Activity o 60 ? 70 minute MRI of the head and spine without contrast, including ?multimodal? imaging (multiple imaging methods at one time) during motor stimulation to study brain activity o 60 minute neurological exam o Self-report and Informant Questionnaires If you decide that you are interested in learning more about any of these studies, and to determine whether or not you may be eligible, the next step is to complete a brief phone screen. This screen generally lasts about 20-35 minutes. Study participants will be compensated for their time and travel.
