Epilepsy Center

Epilepsy is a disorder that can cause seizures (abnormal electrical activity in the brain). Epilepsy can be caused by many things, including brain injury or family history. Most forms of epilepsy can be treated without surgery. The earlier epilepsy is diagnosed and treated, the better the outcome.

At Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center (DHMC), your epilepsy team will guide you through the entire process, from diagnosis to evaluation to treatment. If you do have epilepsy, we can help you control your seizures with medicine, diet and/or surgery, if needed. We treat both children and adults.

You can get involved in our clinical trials if you and your doctor determine that it would be useful for you.

DHMC is the only Level 4 Epilepsy Center in NH, as designated by the National Association of Epilepsy Centers

Level 4 Epilepsy Center Badge

The Epilepsy Center at DHMC is accredited as a level 4 epilepsy center. Level 4 epilepsy centers have the professional expertise and facilities to provide the highest level medical and surgical evaluation and treatment for patients with complex epilepsy.
