Your room at the Jack Byrne Center for Palliative & Hospice Care is designed to feel like home, while accommodating the latest medical technology. Rooms at the Jack Byrne Center are built to help you feel comfortable and safe.
Your private room
All rooms at the Jack Byrne Center are private, and are assigned to you based on your care needs. Nursing staff are available to help you get settled in your room.
During your stay, we encourage you to bring small pictures, photographs and other cherished items to make your room feel like home. Each patient room has a limited amount of shelf space for displaying these items.
On admission to your room, our caregivers will assess your care needs. Your safety and comfort are important. Recent surgery, illness, weakness, pain and medications all increase your risk of falling, so please be sure to discuss any concerns with your care team.
When you are settling in your room, your nursing team will:
- Show you how to use your bed
- Show you how to use your call button
- Help you with your television remote
Food preparation and service
Meals and snacks are available for patients 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Food and Nutrition staff are available during daytime hours. When Food and Nutrition staff are not present, any member of your care team can assist you.
Call buttons and telephones
When you need help, push the call button and staff will answer as soon as possible. All patient rooms and bathrooms have a call button or pull cord that alert staff of your location and need for help.
Telephones are in every room, and amplified telephones are also available. Cell phone use by patients and guests is permitted in most areas.
