Dartmouth Health hospitals ranked among Twin States’ best by Newsweek

Newsweek's America's Best-in-State Hospitals 2024

From our academic medical center to our community hospitals, our teams pride themselves on providing world-class care and bringing all the resources of an academic medical system to a largely rural population across New Hampshire and Vermont.

Four member hospitals of the Dartmouth Health system were ranked among the best in New Hampshire and Vermont in Newsweek’s America's Best-In-State Hospitals 2024 list. Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center (DHMC) and Alice Peck Day Memorial Hospital, both located in Lebanon, NH; Mt. Ascutney Hospital and Health Center in Windsor, VT; and Southwestern Vermont Medical Center (SVMC) in Bennington, VT, were included in the annual rankings, with DHMC ranked the highest score among Granite State hospitals.

This ranking of America's Best-In-State Hospitals 2024 recognizes 600 leading hospitals across the nation. Newsweek and global market research and consumer data firm Statista identify the top hospitals at the state level. Methodology for creating the list includes data from nationwide online surveys, results from patient surveys, hospital quality metrics, and a Patient-Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs) Implementation survey. As a result, 50 state lists, as well as a list for the District of Columbia are published.

“I was thrilled to learn that four of our Dartmouth Health system members were included in Newsweek’s rankings of the nation’s top hospitals,” said Joanne M. Conroy, MD, CEO and president of Dartmouth Health. “From our academic medical center to our community hospitals, our teams pride themselves on providing world-class care and bringing all the resources of an academic medical system to a largely rural population across New Hampshire and Vermont. The inclusion of DHMC, APD, Mt. Ascutney and SVMC on the Newsweek Best-In-State Hospitals list, with hospitals from around the country who are leading the charge of creating healthier communities, is a wonderful acknowledgement that we are doing something right.”
