Weight Center Appointments and Referrals

To receive care at the Weight Center, you may be referred by a medical professional with a diagnosis of obesity or self-refer if you meet the treatment criteria.

Who is eligible for treatment at the Weight Center?

Obesity is a disease that is caused by many environmental factors that are not completely understood. Fat mass is  regulated in the brain like body temperate is regulated. We connect people of all ages with obesity treatment and services they need to optimize their health. We recommend treatment if you meet the treatment criteria.

Understanding your health insurance coverage

Insurance companies make accessing treatment difficult, but not impossible. Obesity treatment can be costly. Most patients need to understand their insurance coverage for obesity treatment. We accept many health insurance plans. However, we recommend you contact your insurance company before your first visit. It is important to learn about your coverage for obesity care.

Understanding your insurance coverage can help guide your treatment plan. You will need to ensure you meet all preauthorization requirements. We offer many treatments that are free. These include health coaching, exercise coaching, and monthly lifestyle classes.

Here are some important questions to ask your insurance company:

  • Are supportive services covered, including nutrition visits?
  • Are and anti-obesity medications or bariatric surgery covered?
  • What are the requirements to receive coverage for weight loss medications or surgery?
