The Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center (DHMC) Intensive Care Unit (ICU) meets the Leapfrog Group's standards for ICU Physician Staffing. In addition, this Critical Care Service has ongoing initiatives for every core topic identified by the Institute for Health Care Improvement.
We work in concert with the primary admitting staff to provide expertise in ventilator and hemodynamic management as well as other aspects of critical care such as infection, nutrition, dialysis, etc.
This multidisciplinary approach allows for the care of complex medical issues while maintaining the ongoing continuity of care by the primary physician team.
The Critical Care consultation service is a supplementary team whose role includes enhancing access to critical care and follow-up with patients discharged from the Critical Care Service.
