We provide clinical and consultative services for:
- Patients at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center (DHMC) and member hospitals
- Patients, clinicians, and non-DHMC pathologists seeking a second opinion
Surgical pathology
Surgical pathologists provide comprehensive diagnoses on specimens from all body sites and tissue types (including cytopathology and autopsy pathology). In the interpretation of a specimen diagnosis, multiple ancillary testing techniques may be used including special histochemical stains, immunohistochemistry, immunofluorescence, in-situ hybridization, flow cytometry, molecular genetics, cytogenetics and electron microscopy.

Laboratory medicine
Laboratory medicine faculty, as Medical Directors, oversee the quality, reproducibility, accuracy, and interpretation of laboratory testing or blood product supplies in specialist divisions (clinical chemistry, clinical genomics and advanced technologies, cytogenetics, hematopathology, microbiology, and transfusion medicine). Many tests are developed and validated at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center, according to the strict criteria of our accrediting bodies (CLIA, CAP, AABB, FACT, FDA).
