Geriatric Psychiatry and Healthy Aging and Brain Care Program

Our Geriatric Psychiatry and Healthy Aging and Brain Care Program helps people aged 65 years and older with mental health and memory problems. We evaluate and treat a wide range of issues, from mild to severe. Our geriatric psychiatrists, providers, and supervised trainees:

  • Conduct thorough evaluations
  • Prescribe medications, interventions, and therapy
  • Make referrals for additional testing and services

We look at every part of your health, including brain, medical, mental, social, spiritual, and personal factors. This helps us make a treatment plan that fits your needs, both for your body and mind.

We know that caring for older adults often involves family and community. We ensure time during appointments for family members to share their thoughts. We also ensure that patients and their families understand:

  • The diagnosis
  • How care will be given
  • The treatment plan
  • What to expect

We diagnose and treat issues in older adults related, but not limited to:

  • Alzheimer’s disease
  • Anxiety disorders, including generalized anxiety disorder, panic disorder, PTSD, and OCD
  • Behavioral variant frontotemporal dementia
  • Grief
  • Mild cognitive impairment
  • Mood disorders, including depression and bipolar disorder
  • Primary progressive aphasia
  • Psychiatric and cognitive complications of movement disorders, including Parkinson’s disease and Lewy body disease
  • Schizophrenia and psychotic spectrum disorders
