Research Groups

Our department's research portfolio is continually evolving and expanding. Some of our research teams are highlighted below.

  • Brain Research Network: A multidisciplinary group of scientists with expertise in clinical neuroscience, neuropsychology, psychiatry, brain imaging, research design, and statistics. The Brain Imaging Lab is a research-dedicated facility with a focus on brain imaging and cognitive studies in patient populations. Our mission is to conduct innovative research that advances scientific understanding of human brain function and dysfunction to improve clinical care of patients with neurological, psychiatric, and other medical disorders.
  • Dartmouth Trauma Interventions Research Center (DTIRC): The Dartmouth Trauma Interventions Research Center (DTIRC) focuses on improving services for children, youth, and families impacted by trauma and adversity. We train professionals in evidence-based treatments, collaborate with community, state, and federal systems, and work to create trauma-informed communities.
  • Laboratory of Translational Neuropsychopharmacology (LTN): The mission of the LTN is to gain a better systems-neuroscience understanding of severe mental illness and substance use disorders in order to develop novel therapeutic interventions and personalize the implementation of existing treatments to improve patients' lives.
  • Neuroimmune Psychiatry Research Program and Epidemiological Children's Environmental Health: The Neuroimmune Psychiatry Research Program leads investigations in the research-based neuroimmune psychiatric disorders program, providing evaluation and treatment for children, adolescents and adults with neuropsychiatric conditions associated with infectious diseases and autoimmune conditions. This team aims to study the relationship between infection, inflammation, immunity and neuropsychiatric disease to ultimately improve diagnostics and therapeutic interventions.
  • Center for Collaborative Mental Health Research: The Center for Collaborative Mental Health Research is made up of an interdisciplinary team of researcher/clinicians whose mission is to co-develop, evaluate, implement, and disseminate interventions to maximize the functioning, health, and quality of life of people with mental illness by engaging in true partnerships with, and addressing the priorities of, key stakeholders (service users, clinical leaders, service providers, researchers, content experts, and administrative staff).
