Transfusion Medicine Research Center Testing and Publications

The Transfusion Medicine Research Center provides a full range of clinical laboratory testing from one convenient location. These processes include extracting proteins for study, preserving and testing platelets, and collecting plasma for research purposes. The complete list of current testing available includes, but is not limited to, the following:

  • 2-3 DPG
  • Acid protein extractions
  • ATP
  • Blood gas
  • Blood product sterility testing
  • Glycerolize/deglycerolize red blood cells
  • Platelet aggregation
  • Platelet and RBC morphology
  • Platelet and RBC recovery and survival
  • Platelet cryo-preservation
  • Platelet hypotonic shock
  • Platelet extent of shape change
  • Residual white blood cells
  • Sample processing
  • Supernatant Hemoglobin
  • Whole blood, platelet, red blood cells, white blood cells, and plasma collections (manual and automated)
