Art exhibits and creative arts activities

In addition to the permanent art collection, we have rotating seasonal exhibitions throughout the main hospital building.

We also offer creative arts, one-on-one experiences for adult patients in the hospital, infusion suites, and waiting areas with our Visual Artist, Literary Artist, and Therapeutic Harpist. See samples of our patients' creative writing projects. Learn more about the Arts and Humanities Program.

Live music

You may have noticed our two pianos, one located near the rotunda on Level 3 and the other located on Level 4 in the East Mall. Volunteers routinely play the two pianos (there are regularly scheduled performances in the rotunda throughout the week). Visitors may play the pianos for a limited time by first obtaining the key from the Main Rotunda or South Information Desks. You may also hear live guitar in the East Mall. Walking paths

Outdoor paths

The beautiful grounds of DHMC include two outdoor walking paths. One surrounds the cluster of DHMC buildings inside the loop road. The other, the Albert Schweitzer Walking Trail, will take you through the woods and lies outside the loop road. Play area

There are also a patio and children's play area off the dining area on Level 2.

You can also walk within DHMC on the different levels: 1 mile = 5,280 feet / 1,760-2,640 steps / 13-22 minutes.

Garden of Hope

For a short stroll or for sitting, the lovely Garden of Hope is located next to the Dartmouth Cancer Center on Level 3.
